Solas Coffee Roasters

FAQ

When do you roast?

Mondays and Tuesdays. Orders go out Wednesday and Thursday.

Is there a cut-off for ordering?

No. Whenever your order lands, it goes on the next roast. Nothing sits waiting for a deadline.

Why has my order not shipped yet?

Because it has not been roasted yet. We roast to order rather than keep bags on a shelf, so there is normally a few days between you ordering and us posting. You will get a shipping confirmation the morning it goes out.

How fresh is the coffee?

Every bag is dated. Drink it within a month of that date and you will get the best of it.

Should I rest it before brewing?

Give it a week. Coffee is usually at its best around seven to ten days off the roast, particularly for filter. If the first cup tastes sharp or closed up, leave the bag a few more days before you judge it. It will open.

How should I store it?

Sealed, somewhere cool and dark, out of direct sun. Not the fridge. Not the freezer unless you are freezing it in portions you will not reopen.

Do you grind the coffee?

Bags ship wholebean by default. If you want it ground, say so in the order notes at checkout and tell us what you are brewing on. Espresso, V60, Aeropress, cafetière and moka all want a different grind, so the more you tell us the better we can set it.

What sizes do you sell?

200g and 1kg.

What do Foundations, Adventurous and Experimental mean?

Foundations are the coffees we buy season after season from producers we return to. Adventurous are small-volume lots chosen for a distinct variety, process or cup. Experimental are rare varieties and innovative fermentations, in very limited quantity.

What does delivery cost?

Ireland is €4.95. The UK and Europe are €8.00.

Can I collect instead?

Yes, and collection is free. Choose it at checkout and we will email you when your coffee is ready to pick up.

How does the subscription work?

The Solas Supply rotates the freshest lot from what we are currently roasting and posts it to you monthly, at 10% off shop prices. Three sizes: one bag, two bags, or the two-bag Curious tier of rare and exclusive lots. Irish orders over €35 ship free, which covers the Curious tier.

Can I skip or cancel?

Any time, from your account. Skip a month, change what you are getting, or stop altogether. No notice period.

Do you supply cafés and shops?

We do. Trade prices, roast-to-order and dial-in support are on the wholesale page.

Something is wrong with my order.

Reply to your order confirmation, or mail hello@solascoffeeroasters.com. A person reads it and we will sort it.
